Ran my wife's 13 ft whaler from the Diversionary to Tiki, Bolivar, and downtown Galveston yesterday.

Johnboat, your house appears fine. Dock and deck is fine as well. Did not see a board missing. Just covered in mud. Some erosion under the houses but manageable. The house to the far left lost its bayside siding but that's all. Lost of dead cows in the canal though.

Bolivar Yacht Basin is destroyed. I did not see a salvageable boat. The bait camp is destroyed. There are sunk boats in the canals and along Sievers cut. the nice Cabo is also listing and partially sunk. Be careful. All sheds are destroyed, water looked about 14 ft high but had returned to near normal around 5 pm. Lots of dead cows, nutria, rats and snakes in the area. Ran into a game warden coming from high island, he said everything that way on the first level is also destroyed. He only saw 4 structures still standing in the rollover area.

Milts' is gone, several boats stranded on goat island. The shrimpers did return to the shrimp dock at Milt's about 5 pm yesterday.

Pattillo,
thanks for the report. what is status of Kona Kai? Txcbc and my son have been trying to launch a boat in Anahuac but no success so far.
i spoke w/ johnboat this morning and got your report. also saw Laguna in the KHOU video. looks like our houses are ok but gonna be tough to use the house with no roads, water, electricity, etc. oh well, chance we take living in "paradise!"

Sorry, didn't make into Kona Kai but satellite shows Boyt clear. Again, I would assume mostly bottom damage unless the base flood is less than 14 ft or so. Frankly, I don't know that the municipalities on Bolivar have the resources or wherewithall to get this thing up and running. Certainly not in the short run.

Super D, the boat is listing to starboard. Port running gear may be hung on the dock. Water about 4 ft in from the starboard side across the cockpit. I suspect the SB motor is under water, at least partially. I didn't get close enough to see the cause of the water intrusion so can't comment there. Didn't take any photos as we had burned up our digital space in Tiki.

Bolivar

I went to Bolivar yesterday and the place is destroyed.
Here are a few pictures of the many I took.
lots of dead animals, debris, boats and devastation.
I saw the Cabo, starboard side has a huge bash on the rubrail towards the bow up high. As far as water I couldn't tell.
I'll be back down there Saturday if you would like me to check it.

No trouble getting to the Bolivar yacht basin.
Just bring a gun with you. We saw many cat tracks, BIG cat tracks of the lion on the loose. Found a refrigerator with food scattered around it and lion tracks.
Very muddy, horrible stench and very very sad.

Beginning to look alot like all that stuff in my lockers down at the BYB might just be lost.

I am planning to recon and recovery mission on Saturday as well. Anyone that wants to tag along, let me know.

Is it considered a "canned hunt" to shoot a domesticated lion (or tiger) in a post-apocolyptic no man's land?

Ernest,
We are headed in Sunday, will launch from Oak Island near Smith Point, little shorter run if you want to go then. My cell is 337-794-3853 if you want to give me a call.
Didn't know we would need to bring the 7mm Mag for a friggin' lion hunt, I only thought it was teal season!
goodl luck.

Cabo

Super D,

This is your brother Ricky and me took my boat over yesterday and retied the boat. No water in the boat and the reports I think were because the water was still high in the boat stall and the port lines broke and made the boat look like it was listing. There is alot of damage to the front and cosmetic but hey its a cabo it aint sinking. By the way we do have a 50 foot work boat on the ranch in the middle of the rice field, Ricky wants to turn it into a pig blind.

later, call me I'm around.

Our old house was in the Bolivar Yacht Basin neighborhood. My buddy at TPWD stayed during the storm to be on location after the storm. He returned two days ago and sent me the pics from Bolivar. He took some photos of our old house. We are pic 116 on the second series of photos. He went ashore and took some more of the house and neighborhood. You may find some shots which may help. Click on one of the photos from the second series and it will open up a whole series from HI to Port Bolivar. It is sad.
