My boat trailer has sat for 2 years w/ only moving it a few feet to clean it. Need to start doing some work on it this weekend which will require me to drive around town. Any tips to give me to insure the trailer operates and functions properly.

check air pressure first. Look for dry rot tires. Then inspect/grease wheel bearing. Check lights and that is about it.

make sure the tire has proper air pressure and to test the break lights on a 4 prong setup , turn emergency light on . if emergency lights work then breaks work as well since they use the same element. your tire may not be round anymore ,if I stayed in same position too long , jack up the trailer and take the load off the tire by putting something under the trailer next time . touch the tire ,if it is hot ,you are under inflated . touch the bearing area if it is hot , you have a problem . they are ok if they are warm after 20 minutes of driving
