Since I pulled the boat out for Ike I thought I would do some maintenance and such. I am going to replace all the plugs and was wondering if there was a difference in plugs from Walmart or Academy? Is there a brand I should look for or avoid? We use both the t-handle and flip handle kind. Thanks in advance for info.

i personally keep away from the flip up ones, they bend to easily.

I've had the same brass plugs on my boat since it was new in 1996. I would say if something that cheap can last twelve years, no they are not.

My dad lost one one time while trying to drain the boat as we were running down Mud Cut. He said, "Son...how much gas do we have?" I replied, "About 5 gallons...why?" He replied, "Keep driving until you see an Academy." Those were some fun times! We ended up putting a popping cork in the hole that was rigged with duct tape to make it leak resistant. We fished a few more days like that with no problems.

While we're on the subject, anybody know who carries 3/4 inch plugs. Every place I've been to carries every size except 3/4.
