Son has place in Rockport on canal. I noticed the boat life cables are frayed. Not all but at least two of them and one of them looks pretty bad. My son had guy come over to look at them and he quoted $900 to replace all four.

I am not familiar with all that is needed. Any comments are appreciated. thanks

Depending on how long they are, they will cost between $150-$300 bucks for the stainless steel cable. You will also want to replace the cable crimps at the same time - they are cheap. Mine were 75' each and I had a sling lift. Also, if a sling lift you only have 2 cables but four lift points. Boat lift distributors located on the west side of houston and they have all the parts - also very helpful with questions. As far as labor - it takes a 2-3 hours to do and you have to somewhat know what you are doing. Its not hard but getting it tight is key and also balancing the weights (if you have them). One tip - if you do yourself, wear very good gloves when taking off the old cable - if frayed it can really jam into your hands and cause lots of metal splinters. If you have a cradle (which I do now), the process is the same but found that my cable length had to be much longer. Hope that helps.
