Have a bloodhound and a heeler... Both are GREAT dogs.

Heelers are herders and are pretty high strung but are some of the best companions. Ours (and many others I have seen) is wonderful with kids and other people. Get you a frisbee and learn him early.

As far as housebreaking...They are VERY smart dogs...You shouldnt have much trouble at all.

I have a a Blue Heeler. You should have no problem potty training. He is the smartest animal I have ever dealt with, I swear he understands 75% of the english language and knows exactly what you are saying to him or about him. With that being said, I have a male and he is on the aggressive side, But I think this is my own fault because when he was a pup I played extremely rough with him and allowed him to bite at my hands and heals whenever. Now that he is grown he doesent know his own strength. When I get down to play with him he sometimes forgets about the ball or toy and just wants to wrestle and go for my hands or feet. I would recomend a female or having the male fixed after you breed him a few times(just to help calm him down). Mine may be just one of those rare cases. He is the best companion I have ever had. They are extremely protective!!! and excellent guard dogs, there is no way a stranger is getting into my house without him letting the entire house know!!

I have two heelers both females they are very smart and loving dogs. As mentioned earlier they are very energetic. I live on 2200 acres and during the day them two are none stop whether it be chasing cows or other wildlife. Mine are somewhat protective, but they will let you know if you are not welcomed. I had no problems potty training mine. Here are a couple of pics of my heelers.

Mine is only part blue heeler - for me, my dog will run up beside me, bark, bark, bark at a stranger (usually my neighbor) and then turn and run for the house!

I guess she has warned me and I'm on my own.

This is Pete. I call him my "good buddy"

This is Pete. He is my bro. dog, but doesnt live with him. Pete moved out at an early age. He lives with my parents, which is near my house, and likes to hang out with me. As you can see, he can skin a pig, as well as supervise the skinning of one. He loves to ride any kind of moving vehicle. When he was a puppy, my brother made him ride in the back of his truck at all times. Now you cant let a tailgate down without hime jumping in. The 4wheeler is the same way. He loves to ride it.

He does not do well around other male dogs, and I have to be carefull when strangers come around becuase if he doesnt like you, and you try to pet him (like a D.A.), he will bite your ***. Dont try to pet a dog when the hair on his neck is standing up, and he is barking at you. He wont outright attack you, but dont try to pet him either....LOL.

I think it is funny becuase there are a few people that he hates. When he sees their truck coming he starts raising hell, and does not stop until they leave. I dont know why he doesnt like them, but to ease the pain I tell them that Pete is just a good judge of character...LOL.

Very smart. Very protective of HIS property. Great companion.

We have a blu-heeler and sheltie mix. Beautiful dog, and all attitude. Noel will play until she is ready to drop, non-stop. She'll chase anything, including me. She'll nip at your ankles if you are walking a direction other than where she wants to go. This spoiled rotten little thing is the best entertainment we have. If there is a kid near, she is in her glory. She hates the pool except when there are kids in it. She has toys she'll string thru the house, but tell her to pick them up, and she'll do it. Everyone who comes to the house, she thinks is there to see her. She's a real trip, and wouldn't trade her for anything. Her understanding of the english language is unbelievable. After having this breed, I'll be sure to get another of the same.

Grat dogs and very smart. They do require a strong hand for discipline, and need lots of excercise. They are also typically one person dogs, but at the same time are extremely loyal.

I have a red heeler catahoula mix and he is awsome.
