What is the best knot to tie for using topwaters and jigs to get the most movement out of your bait?

Try using a loop knot.

Loop Knot for sure...but leave some room on the tag end...I lost 2 beautiful keeper trout and arms length, cuz I cut the tag end tooo short....lesson learned...LOL

I agree with the loop knot, but I've recently been experimenting with various quick release clips with good success. You get good movement and can swap out a lure in about 15 seconds. This is pretty handy when you're wading.
