What is y'alls opinion on the best place to get a good meal that I can drive up to by boat in Port A? Will be making a jaunt to Port A by boat after fishing next weekend and am looking for ideas.

John, there are only a couple of restaurants on the water at the marina: Virginia's, Trout Street and I think Dock's or Dockside. The first two are pricey but pretty good. Service at Virginia's is hit or miss. Be prepared for a looong wait if you go on the weekends.

Good luck.

sorry

Tortuga Flats is gone! The building was moved and it turned into a BBQ joint. Virginia's is at the same spot now. Good bar, good Bloody's and Marg's. ( I was so angry when they closed Tortuga. It was my fathers fav. spot after a morning fishing trip)

I was very upset to find out that the Quarter Deck was gone, too! Used to go in and order onion strings after a long day on the water. Nothing beat those onion strings and a burger. Dang I miss that place. Ate at that place every time I was there, which was about 2 times a month for about 10 years.

Hate to hear that about Tortuga and the Quarter Deck. I sure loved going in both places and yea, the fried onions and the mesquite grilled ling were to die for.

Oh well, haven't had the boat down there in years and didn't know they were gone.

Why is it that the best things never last?

Virginia's Is My Port A Favorite.....

fishing from their dock surrounding that building in the back and on the side and the marina area there is (don't tell anybody because it's my secret spot) the best pace I've found during the Fall for flounder in all of Port A.

Flatties swim the shoreline heading out to the Gulf from CC Bay. Many follow that path hoping it'll take them to the end of the jetties only to make the one fatal mistake....they reach the mouth of the entrance to the harbor/marina and hook a right turn only to find themselves in the marina and lost That is, of course, is when I come along with founder belly and jigs, etc. and "show them the light." Can I hear an AMEN!? CF? :doowapsta
