Beretta Silver Pigeon too short

507 Views 10 Replies 8 Participants Last post by  Old sailor
Hey guys. I have a 20ga Silver Pigeon with 26" barrels. Its a beautiful gun, but I think it is a little short for me. Without going with a custom stock, does anyone have a good trick for making it a little longer? Its a beautiful gun, but am considering selling it because of fit. Thanks.

Thicker butt pad shaped to your stock is cleanest.

Lil spacer between stock and butt pad is acceptable.

Slip on butt pad is ugliest.

Can also wear thick shirts and a shoulder pad.
Does it have a recoil pad or just the hard thin plastic plate from the factory. If it doesn't have a recoil pad, take it to a gunsmith and have them install a recoil pad. Depending upon the pad selected, this will add anywhere from 1/2" to 1.5". Should cost about $100 to $150.
Look up kick-eez, that’ll be cheapest. Then look up Graco, that’ll be most expensive.
Ultimately you’ve got a common gun with many off the shelf recoil pad options that can probably solve your issue “good enough” for hunting and fun. If you’re shooting big money tournaments, look for something custom.
Thanks. I have an aftermarket butt pad, but it didn't seem to "fix" my issue. I have been worried about putting a shim in there because I feel like the connection to the gun will become a little less secure. Should that matter too much?
How thick is your current aftermarket butt pad? I don't think a spacer or shim in between would be bad if a smith did it. They make aluminum adjustable length of pull butt pads for skeet shooters. I think that can give you an inch & a half of movement.

I like the idea of an aluminum spacer. I hadn't thought of that. The ones I have seen have been the basic "plastic" piece provided with newer semi-auto shotguns to correct for lop, cast, etc. I will have to see what I can dig up. Thanks.

These are what they look like.

Duct tape and as many maxi pads to do the trick- stain to match ….
I put a kick eez sorbothane recoil pad on my 12 ga. trap gun and I couldn't believe the reduction in recoil.
