BV

Was helping my dad clean/get to his place yesterday in BV, it looks like a war zone! He lives on Dolphin (i think thats the name of his street)... There was a blue bass boat in his driveway (sitting upright), and another boat between his house and the fence. It appears the water was +/- 6-7' in the bottom floor. Mud everywhere.

Watch for nails if headed that way..

Also noted that Marine shop on the left as you come into BV that had 6-8 glacier bay style boats out in front, you can see them about 1,000yds back across that little bay area some still on the trailer. They must have floated across with the trailers attached.

Bayou Vista took a major butt whippin ( it always will in a hurricane) Typically residents will lose everything of value downstairs . If they are lucky they will be OK upstairs.

I was in Bayou Vista two days ago. Looked just like I remember it after Alicia in 83. I've always loved the community and lived there many years.

If you choose to live there you simply must acknowledge that in a hurricane you will loose most everything you leave low. If you are lucky you get to keep the high stuff.

Took a tour by boat yesterday of BV and Tiki area.

  1. The boat stalls at Louis are a pile of twisted metal. Used to keep my boat there, I can't identify my stall anymore
  2. Louis is totally blown out downstairs
  3. The Highlands Bayou Grill roof blew off and looks waisted
  4. At least 3-4 homes in old BV along Highlands Bayou are "GONE"
  5. The railroad bridge took on alot of damage
  6. Fatboys downstairs is gone
  7. The three homes along the road by Fatboys are gone
  8. The metal storage place at Tiki is gone
  9. The Tiki Bait Camp building fell over and is totally waisted
  10. BV streets look like a war zone

I live on redfish and our house had just over 6' of water in the downstairs. The upstairs if fine with no damage at all. Most places that I saw had the same thing major flood damage downstairs and only minor damage upstairs if any. I will be in and out for the next couple of days and if anyone needs me to take a look at any house for them let me know. if you are going to work on or around your house for the first time be very careful of rattle snakes they are all over I killed one at my place and know of others that were killed also.
