Does anyone no if there is any access over near Bayou Vista? I have a friend that lives there and I usually park at his house but I can't get ahold of him. I would like to try to fish in the kayak a little. Thanks for the help.

Try Louis bait camp on highland bayou. Dont know what the storm did to it , but its right there at bayou vista.

Be careful

You may want to stay out of the canals by the homes. People are on edge with no water, electricity, sewer, or power. There have been a few reports of looters trying to come in by boat and with tensions high someone might go off.

The canals are a real mess right now, littered with debris and all kinds of bacteria.

Ok good advice. I would not actually be going in any of the canals. I guess I will drive down and see. I just didn't know if they were only letting residents in area?

I know Fatboys camp got blown away,but the ramp might be open.

Went this morning and had great success. Myself and a friend caught 5 trout and 14 nice flounder. Only 3 throwbacks. All caught on gulps and bass assassins. Beautiful day and I was thankful to get back on the water. Prayers to all of those living in Bayou Vista. By the looks of everything, there was a lot of damage.

Just so ya'll know, Fat Boy's the bait camp is gone but the ramp and parking lot are there.

Kyle, B.V. is open to all, come in from either I45 or hwy. 6, but like Trout master88 said, people are cautious about strangers, plus there is a lot of debris in the canals. Even though he is a friend, I would be hesitant about going to someone's house if they weren't home at this time, the police are doing a good job of patroling the area. May want to put in at Louie's, lot of luck.
