Eat it two or three days a week at this little Mexican drive thru joint down the road on 281. Corn tortillas, side of lime and a Mexican coke. Muy Bueno.

 

Looks great. I prefer the corn and extra pico.

 

Tortilleria Reyna. In a strip center on Bissonnet just west of Hillcroft in SW Houston. Meat and tortillas sold by the pound. I get a 1/2 lb barbacoa and 1/2 pound corn tortillas, comes with chopped onions,cilantro and salsa. ~ $5. Carnitas are excellent also. Real coke in the thick glass bottle.Spit chicken on Wednesdays. Worth a visit if you're in the area.

 

Got me hungry. Had some left over in the fridge from Thursday morning (buy it by the lb) so had it for lunch. Left over refried ******* and pico from last nights fajitas. No corn torts in the fridge but had flour so all good.

HEB has a tort called Mixla, Give'em a try. Corn/Flour mix.

 

Oh yeah, I can eat me some barbacoa. If I stop and pick up a taco in the morning, I buy an extra taco or two for lunch.

 

Barbacoa is like a drug...

Once you've had some great Barbacoa, you crave it !

 

Only eat it once a month, I love it with cilantro and onion with a squeeze of lime. I can feel it clogging my arteries about 30 min after eating it. Love it thought!

 

Sorry about the sloppy pic but I love me some barbacoa! Made some in the croc pot over night and then made some fresh guacamole and some farm eggs. Mmmmm..mmmmm.mmmm

I've been clean for a few months, but every time I pass by La Bandera in Jourdanton I fall right back off the wagon. Extra onion and cilantro and I'm good.

 

The onion and cilantro are vegetables, so it makes barbacoa healthy to eat. Kinda like a salad. Lol.

 

AR's cafe in Freeport has some grest barbacoa!

 

Bronco Burritos in Galveston is great.

Let me know what you think about the tacos there. I've been eating there for years. The guys in my office stand in line for a while for their tacos. I don't.

 

Nuevo Leon Meat Market on Freeport Street has some darn good barbacoa. It's located in the nice part of Cloverleaf.

 

Good places I've tried around Houston are: La Montaña in Pasadena, Las Tarascas, Katy and the absolute BEST is Gerardo's at 609 Patton St, Houston, TX 77009.

For barbacoa Stay away from La Michuacana

 

The best that I have ever had is at this little gas station conversion joint that we go to when we are in Lake Charles.

Good review. Yeah I agree. Their breakfast tacos are not to die for. My buddies think they're the best thing since the Big Mac. I just don't see it.

I'd rather eat tacos at Laredo's Tacos at the Stripes Gas station. IMO.

 

There's a small place in El Campo that consistently serves the BEST barbacoa on Saturdays and Sundays. Its right behind Greek Bros off of Mechanic st called Tortillaria Crystoval. They also have amazing menudo too. You can feast on this with their home made corn tortillas and you will not get any heartburn/ indigestion. Get there before 10 am , they sell out quick!

x2 on Gerardos. Very good place. I always get the mixta. Great salsa and fresh hot tortillas in a cooler. The ladies at the register could be a little friendlier though. Perhaps it was he MAGA hat I was wearing. j/k

Laredo on Snover is pretty good but not great. Basic steam table stuff. Pretty good barbacoa. I drive by it every morning and it always has a crowd so they are doing something the people like.

Agreed. If anyone decides to go to this place make sure you pick up some carnitas as well. They are fantastic.

The little stand inVV ain't bad but not quite as good as the others I mentioned above ole Pepe is kinda slow and it's 4.50 for a burrito, but it sure fills you up real nice when wrestling with a hangover, lol

 

I used to be hooked on Taco Loco in Sweeny. I really like it when you get a chunk of eyeball in a old bite.
