Is there a certain time of day to catch certain baits off the rigs? I've only gone off shore in Florida and you can only catch certain baits during the night or early morning. Goggle-eye is a big bait in Florida and they're only caught around 3-4 am by dive buoys. Pilchard as well. When I was in Florida back in August, we headed out of Port Everglades (Ft Lauderdale) about 6:30am and threw a sabiki by a channel marker and there were only blue runners.

Just curious what type of baits hang around the rigs. Piggies, runners, etc?

Thanks

blue runners and banded rudderfish (what some folks call lesser ajs). We rarely get anything else, but occasionally you will catch cigar minnows on sabikis. Blue runners can be caught during the day, and they work for everything, ajs, kings, wahoo, dolphin, tuna (smaller blue runners say, less than 6 inches), and snapper. Not too bad for grouper either.
