The new K2 BlackJack looked awesome. Not really a skinny water boat, but it definitely is gonna be an eye turner and had a ton of really nice stuff on it. Bill Kenner definitely knows how to make a nice boat.

The Everglades boats there looked super nice also. They had a 24'r that had a Fiberglass composite T-Top and everything was finished out to the 9's. Very impressive boat.

Next to the Everglades Boats were the Shearwaters which also looked pretty awesome. I myself don't know much about them but I looked them up on their website. The hull is extremely light for a 20 or 22 footer- made out of kevlar/fiberglass. I haven't seen them here on the Texas coast though. Anyone know anything about the Shearwaters-ride/performance/durability?

The BlackJacks caught my eye as well. Do they have a website? I did a search on Google and all I got were a bunch of gambling links.

Witt Marine in Baytown is selling the Blackjacks! Triton quality but in the low thirties with a trailer I think the 22 was 32K. The everglades were impressive..and the Sea hunt was about 21.7K for their 22" very good prices..Deck boats were priced to sell..also

Went Saturday

Not a very big crowd, I was looking for something to replace my Aquasport. My wife wants the dryest boat made, but everybody says they have that. The K2 was impeccably built and they will be coming out with a 20' next year. The attention to detail was flawless. The Sea Hunts were nice as was the Skeeter. Spoke to a factory rep for pontoons that goes to all the shows. He said the Houston show is the worst show in the summer, which is a shame since the best prices are offered in the summer shows. He said he didn't know how the local stores could afford to even have the show with the poor turn out.... and this year was worse than last. Didn't get a boat..... the wife got a spa! I guess I'll be getting a kayak now. :eek:hwell:
Oh, and I missed the squirell!

May have to hop over to Witt and check out those Blackjacks. Has anyone seen a picture online. I checked out www.k2marine.com but it doesn't look like it has ever really been updated.

I saw the Shearwaters last year and they look good, but still new. I was waiting to hear some reports from people who purchased and owned them for a while. I was (am) a big Pathfinder fan but it seems they have come down a little from when they first hit the market a few years back and some problems were revealed. I'm waiting to see if that happens with the Shearwaters. Last year you could get the 20 ft model for under $30k, but I don't think you can anymore.

I'm considering switching to a 21 Shallowsport. Is it possible to get one of those for under $30k? Did Texas Marine have any at the show?

The 20ft Shearwaters were $24K at the Boatshow. The 22 footers were around $30K. My buddy was talking to Texas Marine about a 18 ft Shallowsport and they wanted $21K for it. I would think you should be able to get the 20 or 21footer for under 30 bones pretty easily.

What kind of problems are you talking about with the Pathfinders? The floor flexing around the gas tank problems? I don't know how much of that to believe. I've never even seen that mentioned over on TheHullTruth or on the Pathfinder owners forums. I personally believe that is something the Blazer people are spreading around.

I too looked at the Shearwaters, but I thought they were too light, and even though they looked impeccably finished, they looked like they might do great in Florida waters, but I would think twice about buying one without running it across the bay in some pretty good chop and seeing how wet you get.

Though the K2 didn't look like it would run all that shallow, it did look like it would be a great all around bay boat that was superbly finished out.

I had the same thought about the Shearwaters.

As for Pathfinder problems, I think most of it is just small stuff but things that would bother me, like the reports of spider cracks, water intrusion problems, and transom problems (when they were still using 10 inch setbacks.)

I do read the Pathfinder forums and realize they take care of there customers, but if am paying that kind of money it's these little problems that would drive me nuts.

I think the liner boats look great in the showroom when all cleaned up, but have realized the nice thing about my Kenner with the sprayed deck is that it doesn't show dirt and scuffs near as much after a day on the water.

Shallowsport Prices

Don't know all the details and I'm sure Texas Marine had the Shallowsport rigged with a Yamaha, but I saw a price on the POC Marine website for a little under $20k (http://www.pocmarine.com/prod01.htm)

I'm sure I'll end up spending more when I'm able to get one, because I'm thinking of having some custom stuff done.
