I'm still out-of-town and have heard several rumors about he condition of some of the schools in SFISD. I know for a fact that there is a lot of damage to RJ Wollam Elementary on Ave S, and perhaps some minor damage to the schools along Warpath. I heard tonight that there is a lot of damage to SFHS, but haven't heard it from a reliable source, in fact, I think the source was very unreliable, that is why I am trying to find someone who may have seen things (or not seen them, whatever the case might be) first hand.

Thanks for any info you can give.

I haven't been on Warpath yet but the Relief workers are all headquartered at the high school. You probably already know there is not supposed to be any school until Monday and my understanding is that is completely dependent on whether or not the relief workers are outta here. Unless something changes pretty fast I don't see them going anywhere. I am still seeing convoy after convoy headed South past my place on Hwy 6. Your BIL's new store took some damage and had water in it. He's working hard to get back open but there's no power there yet either. Stay safe on the way home. If you wanna PM me while you are still away I'll try to keep you as updated as I can. Tight lines, H/U

I can't speak for any of the school's up there, but when Dolly hit, Port Isabel's schools had significant rain damage that required the schools being shut for four weeks while a cleanup crew came in to prevent mold. We were lucky in that it was two weeks before school and students only missed two weeks. We are also getting a waiver from the state so students don't need to make up those days.

Hope your schools made it in good shape.

I was down warpath the other day. The walkway covers have been rearranged. There was a utility pole that fell thru the roof of one of the bldgs also. And yes, there was major damage to RJ Wollam roof, and subsequently the interior. The police/rescue set up shop in the high school, so there must not be too much damage there. I would guess at the very least, school will be out for a few weeks. I don't see RJW opening anytime soon. When I get confirmation I will post it.

I have been in touch with someone who knows what's up and RJW will not re-open this year, but the little ones will be housed in the other elementary schools. Staff may have to go back next week to help teachers move and get situated in their new classrooms so they can be ready for kiddos asap. Apparently, the water from the rain AFTER Ike is what really hurt since it flooded the parts of the building that were not ruined from the initial hit.

Also, there was a sewer back-up problem at the HS (a few days after the storm) and there was quite a bit of water in the gym, so games will be played at alternative sites for the rest of the year. The practice gyms on the side are okay, but the main gym is not playable.

Thanks for the info! I'll be back in town Thursday afternoon if anyone needs any help in their yards/houses. My husband should have the tree limbs cleared from my yard by the time I get home.
