........pole saws? Looking for something that will just be occasional use around the house, deer lease, etc. I like the concept of them and the weight seems quite a bit lighter than gas powered.

How much and what size limbs are you planning on cutting? I used my Stihl HT 101 quite a bit over the weekend at my buddies place trimming limbs and cutting small cedars off at the ground.
I don't have any feedback on the Stihl, but my dad has a Ryobi battery powered pole saw and he loves it. It won't cut really thick branches or limbs, but it makes quick work of small to medium stuff.
I looked at Stihl and they were pricey for what I needed. Went with a Poulan. Has a lithium battery that I have yet to drain down while using. I would be Stihl is right up there or above the best, just depends on your budget and how often you'll use it. Love my Stihl chainsaw.
i too found myself in the same situation last year, for the money, after much research, i bought the kobalt brand from lowes, found a coupon and got it for about 170, 8 inch bar, plenty of power, good warranty on the tool and separate battery warranty good also
I’m looking at getting a stihl as well. Anyone use their electric blowers? Would be great to blow the patio before dinner without smelling like gas.
I bought the Ryobi, 12" lithium battery. Works great and safer than my gas Stihl because once you release the button it's off, so when stretching to cut a branch, saw isn't running as it's coming down after cutting through the branch-plus quieter. I looked at the Stihl-was pricey and 8" blade, so got the Ryobi. 40 volt. Simple to use.
I have a gas powered Stihl pole saw. It'll cut through some big limbs but it will dang sure wear you out.
