Check out TXwingnuts.com They are not parachutes, but "wings". I have a friend that does this and I am thinking about it for the new year. Oh, check out the video of when they flew over the Texas City dike.
Never been up in one, but watched 10-12 land, pack up the chutes, and take off like a bunch of go carts to the gas station a mile or so down the street. Quite a sight. They came back, set up the chutes, and took off again. They don't seem to go anywhere fast. Looks like fun, if a bit noisey. I'm thinking they said that you can get one new between 8K and 12K.
There is a company here in Clear Lake. I have seen their signs on trucks around the area. I called once and they told me you can go up with an instructor. They fly around the lake and area often. Looks like fun. Sorry I do not have the number anymore.
