Several years ago, Luna Ford gave a demo to my junior high students on how to turn miniature goglets. You don't need any fancy chuck or tools...just a steady hand. He made several specialized tools out of old screwdivers! Anyway....turn a taper on one end and hammer it into the headstock. The 'captured ring' is a easy process to do. Undercut and back cut the ring but make sure to sand and finish it before you cut it off the stem. The large goblet is mesquite and the small one is rosewood (old pen blank). gb

I still got to try that captive ring thing. Haven't thought about doing them that way.

Very nice, Jim...think that is a little TOO small for me to concentrate on..:D

Think I have found my calling with the pens.. Still a real kick to me to see one turn out really nice... Gotta find some 1" blanks though...or make some myself. Still trying on the bigger pens, but 7/8ths are just cutting it too close for my skills.

Really cute little devils...maybe Bobby's bird can drink out of them..:D
