I have never used a portable generator so I have just one question... I have a covered patio but I imagine wind will still blow rain under the covered patio, will it hurt the generator to get wet?

I've got the same kinda setup, Trod..I used mine out there a few years back with no problems.. Just be sure the CO gas can't get in thru the opening for the cord. I had to leave the sliding door open 1/2 inch for cord and then calked the rest of the opening with duct tape from floor to ceiling....
