Went out for a weekend and caught about 70 bass, most of them small schoolies. Did catch a few decent ones on plastic worms. Schoolies were caught on ratl traps. Talked to many of the locals and other fishermen and they weren't catching any big ones either. The lake had just come up 3-4 ft. so that might have been the problem, plus there was a full moon and we didn't fish at night. We bought the stike king big swimbaits and they didn't run right in the water, they spun like a torpedo, so stay away from those swimbaits. All in all it was fun. Look forward to going back early next year.

I'm going to assume you were using a hook with no weight on the swimbait. All I use are the Strike Kings and they are just fine. I use 6/0 Owner screwlock hooks and crimp a lead weight on my hook shank. The weights I use are the rubber core ones (with the rubber removed) or the ones that have the tabs you bend over.
This seems to work fine for me...maybe you can give them another try now.
