Grabbed a pack of livers and took off to the guadalupe right outside of Tivoli, got there right after work, about 4:30 fished till about 7:30 when I ran out of bait, I did not know little piggy pearch liked liver so much. they were about 1 to 2 inches long, I actually caught 2 the dang hook was bigger than them!!!!!! well I used those 2 for bait. I did get one real good hit however I just misssed em. anymore ideas on how I can catch a few of these whiskered wonders, I just want enough for a meal, I have this cut on my thigh and I really do not want to hit the saltwater till it gets better,, but I just gotta have my daily fishin fix, I am going back this P.M. so any tips would be great.

That's why I like cut-bait best. The dinks don't mess with "chunks" in the same way that they'll pick you blind when using a bait like livers or worms. When I'm fishing and trying to catch a bigger than normal fish, I'll use a chunk of shad as large as I can (up to 1/3rd lb. or so) to keep the little cats (dinks) off the bait... I mean, they're fun to catch, but if I'm messing with little fish, I'm not catching big fish. If I want eating size cats, I use chicken gizzards soaked in shad blood and guts...

How close to the water are you? You could try a couple throw lines and leave them out overnight.

I would use a cast net to get some shad and use a couple live right at dark and fillet one for another pole. Perch have never done me well in south Texas. Unless the bite is really on.

Are you in a good spot? Have you ever fished there before?
