Anyone using an alcohol torch??? I bought a new one and the instructions say to use only ethanol or ethyl based denatured alcohol. We all I can find is the methanol based denatured alcohol that the instructions say not to use. Who knows where to get the ethanol based stuff???

I use an alcohol torch all the time with denatured alcoholi get at Home Depot....been doin' it for 11 years with no problems yet.

I just bought the home depot stuff and it says it contains methanol. If you get a chance would you look at your container and see if it contains methanol?

"denatured alcohol" is simply ethyl alcohol to which a poisonous substance, such as acetone or methanol, has been added to make it unfit for consumption. methanol is an also an alcohol, and acetone is a ketone, and both are very toxic.

I use the denatured alcohol you get at Home Depot also. Been using if for nearly 30 years with NO problems- unless I fall asleep with my flame under the wrap.

From what I read it is for making the flexcoat lay down and getting the bubbles out.

torch helps get bubbles out and helps flex coat flow and level easily. if you buy one, get glass, not plastic

Use a Cig. lighter, much easier.
