I've been concentrating on the Confederate Generals during the Civil War. It looks to me like General Robert E. Lee was disappointed in General Jeb Suart and the was he handled orders during the Civil War. He was supposed to give General Lee a running report on conditions ahead. Stuart didn't alert Lee about the huge numbers of Union soldiers that had moved forward and were in the "backyard" of the Confederates. From what I have read Lee felt that if Stuart had kept in touch with him he would have been able to win the battle of Gettysburg.
