I had a chance to get some quality fishing in this past weekend and it was great! I got invited to fish the "Good Times" tournament and we went down Thursday morning to do some fishing to see what the bite was going to be like.

We left early Thursday morning and headed straight for the boat ramp which put us on the water at a very late 9:00a.m. It was just good to feel the salty air as we made the 20 minute journey to East flats and I remember thinking to myself...I just never get tired of this.

After a quick lathering with sunblock we were off. Fifteen minutes into our first wade we started catching some dink trout and rat reds enjoying every pull on the line until the bite slowed and we moved on. Then BAM!!! Our first solid fish of the day hit and was making a substantial run. My buddy Sean asked me if I needed any help and I quickly replied "no...it's gonna be a while" You know how redfish are. A few solid runs, make you go in circles a couple of times and then you get the chance to land them. So Sean kept about his business and when the fish finally surfaced he said "$#@*, that's a trout!!!" He quickly made his way to my 6:00 and danced with me as this bohemeth trout kept defying me as I tried to get a hold on it. Whew! fish was eventually landed, strung, and later taped 25-1/2". I wish I could have gotten a weight because that fish was healthy.

Now that I had this new found adrenaline rush I pressed on and it wasn't more that 15-20 minutes later Fish On!!! Could it be? YES! Another solid trout, this one measuring 24". We hadn't been on the water for more than an hour and I could have gone home right there a happy man...

I finished off my wade with another keeper trout around 16" and a 29-1/2" red that we later cooked on the half shell with some ceviche. My buddy Sean caught fish consistently but it was on his second wade that he hit paydirt and strung a 26" red and then added a 19-1/2" trout before we decided to get off the water...Helluva day!

We then hurried to get off the water and met up with Capt. Black, Pablo, and his new
The rest of the weekend produced more fish with some quality mixed in and I'll just have to tell the rest of the story over a big piece of chicken fried steak at Little Red Barn some time in the near future.

Hey Zac and Mike...Good to hear from you guys.

The area we were fishing is definitely hot right now. Out of all the boats there, we were the only ones wade fishing. We really worked the sand pockets and got great results.

Zac, I've been a little out of touch. Have you not done much fishing lately?

Well Helloooo there Mr. Chuck!

A trip down to the land cut is well needed sometime in the near future. I spent some time there this past weekend but the winds kept us from being too productive at night...They blew steady until early in the morning and finally layed around 3:00 a.m.

Let's do it soon...
