87 is closed past rollover to High Island. Due to water over the road. Its over at 2 different places. One right at 124 and 87 and the other is right in front of the birdhouses just past rollover.

I didnt get a chance to get my travel trailer out of there. If anyone knows of how high the water is on the closed section of the HWY let me know. I was directly across the street from the (5) super high houses with concrete pillars that made it through IKE, East of Rollover.

Mike that is where the water is coming across the road. One of the reasons the road is closed. Unless you live somewhere past rollover pass you can't get through to see what it looks like.

Thanks Bobby.

It is comforting to know we can get a fast heads-up on whats happening on the peninsula from you.

I had my boat lifted waaaay high in the lift at Laguna Harbor....and I havent heard from the lady caretaker there about any problem, so I am good.

But these big wide storms are a new breed. The satellite images remind me of Ike....the storm takes up the whole gulf no matter where the eye is headed. After Ike there was talk the Cat system based solely on wind was insufficient for a storm like Ike....maybe for Alex too. A broad slow moving storm even with modest winds sho moves a lot of water across the whole gulf shoreline.

Alex sucks. We were trying to get into our new beach house by the 4th but Alex has just set us back 2-3 days or longer. No workers can get down there now. Hope they open the hwy soon. Maybe next week for final inspection if we are lucky. sad_smiles

That should not be a problem with the contractors. The ferry is running and the road is open all the way to Rollover pass.
