i'm thinking about a dslr because i want the option of better distance photography. i have no ability to add lenses to my point and shoot. i'm okay with the close ups - i don't really have a great desire to photograph the legs of spiders or anything that close. i'd like to make sure the flower closeups that i do, are clear and have a DOF that i'm happy with (eg i'd like #1 to have a slightly more blurred background). i'd like to have the ability to photograph sparrows taking puddle and dustbaths - i know, it sounds weird, but honestly the sparrows i watch sure look like they're having a great time.
today was a nice 'fine' day... tomorrow we're in for storms and tons of rain, again. it really is Winter.
I like #3..and I think I'd like #1 a lot.... if the flower petals were all included in the shot/crop. #2 is similar to the #3 , but I find the flower in the background distracting. Perhaps if it were more muted, and placed more to one side????
