I love mine! It gets about 16 on the highway and 13 in town but I have 35" tires and it's a long bed F350. It is by far the nicest truck I have ever owned. You can buy them right but if I had it to do all over again I would buy a used one that someone dumped because of the fuel mileage. There are plenty of used '08's with less than 30k miles on the market.
Fuel mileage is less than the competitors, but you won't find a more solid, better riding, and nicer truck on the market. I absolutely love mine. I still have my '07 GMC 2500HD w/DMAX and Allison. The Ford has a much better ride, better interior, better quality build (doors shut solidly), quieter, better looking, taller, twice the interior room, and solid as a rock. The only issue is that my GMC gets 13 mpg city / 18 mpg hwy. My F350 CC, LWB, 4x4, gets 11 mpg city / 15 - 16 mpg hwy. At 2 mpg less, it is sooo worth it to have the Ford.
I took my truck in for oil change the other day and they had an F250 CC, SWB, 4x4, Lariat on the lot with a red tag in the window and $36,995.00 written on it. My truck listed for almost $56K and I bought mine for $42K out the door. They all seem to be selling for about $2K cheaper than I paid for mine just 6 or 8 weeks ago.
Don't wait. I think you'll see the '09 models being more expensive. Dealers and the automakers will not stock or build as many as they have in the past. They will be more inclined to hold their margins with less inventory. I think we are seeing the last of 50+ Super Duties sitting on the lots of dealers and then a big sale to move off some inventory for the next shipment of 50+ trucks. It will get to trucks with less equipment and only a handful of them on the lots. You'll have to special order to get what you want and dealer trades for inventory will be harder to do as well.
If you are going to do something, you might want to do it in the next month or so.
I got my 2008 F250 FX4 Crew Cab Super Duty back in April of this year. A few extras and it stickered for about $61. I walked out with a deal in the low $40's.
I love the truck inside and out. The enigens are severly detuned and needs a tuner to wake it up for performace and effiency . I am waiting on one to hit the market that worth a flip. I do not like the re-generation thing but you get use to it.
I bought mine in March and saved about 8-9 off sticker, I guess I should have waited a couple of months and could have saved a little more. Took the regen stuff off, doesn't make a huge difference in town, but gets pretty decent on the highway now. Other than the mileage, the truck is great, pulls strong, roomy, best looking (my opinion obviously), and just as quiet as a gas truck. If I was in the market for a new diesel, I would still buy a ford.
I'll be signing papers on a 2008 F-250 King Ranch SWB Crew Cab 4x4 Diesel. They are knocking $13,000 off the sticker price. The truck is blue/tan and I've already nick-named it "Viagra"!!!!! I got to drive it Tuesday when it got in and they both have the same effect! Had a identical 2006 and loved it. I got this one with all the extras like the moon roof, audio-phile stereo system, and the back up camera. Speaking of the back up camera, it is well worth the extra $460. Something that is going to be interesting is the first time me and all my friends are out riding around and the ladies have to go potty!!!! I've already ordered a Tough Country front replacement bumper, powder coated in Arizona Beige. Can't wait.
