Fuel mileage is less than the competitors, but you won't find a more solid, better riding, and nicer truck on the market. I absolutely love mine. I still have my '07 GMC 2500HD w/DMAX and Allison. The Ford has a much better ride, better interior, better quality build (doors shut solidly), quieter, better looking, taller, twice the interior room, and solid as a rock. The only issue is that my GMC gets 13 mpg city / 18 mpg hwy. My F350 CC, LWB, 4x4, gets 11 mpg city / 15 - 16 mpg hwy. At 2 mpg less, it is sooo worth it to have the Ford.
I took my truck in for oil change the other day and they had an F250 CC, SWB, 4x4, Lariat on the lot with a red tag in the window and $36,995.00 written on it. My truck listed for almost $56K and I bought mine for $42K out the door. They all seem to be selling for about $2K cheaper than I paid for mine just 6 or 8 weeks ago.
Don't wait. I think you'll see the '09 models being more expensive. Dealers and the automakers will not stock or build as many as they have in the past. They will be more inclined to hold their margins with less inventory. I think we are seeing the last of 50+ Super Duties sitting on the lots of dealers and then a big sale to move off some inventory for the next shipment of 50+ trucks. It will get to trucks with less equipment and only a handful of them on the lots. You'll have to special order to get what you want and dealer trades for inventory will be harder to do as well.
If you are going to do something, you might want to do it in the next month or so.
