2004 Ford F-250 STOLEN!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I was eating lunch in Clear Lake yesterday (06/12/06) at the Oriental Gourmet on el camino and ramada from 11:45 to 12:25 and when I walked out the front door I did not see my truck. I was hoping my brother was playing a "funny" joke on me, but he assured me he wasn't. My truck had been stolen! So I called HPD and filed a report and spent half the day talking to my insurance company. This is just unbelievable! I have worked very hard and earned what I have and some p.o.s. took it away. The insurance company will take care of me, but thats besides the fact. I need my truck for my business! Anyway, if anyone spots a red 2004 F-250, powerstroke, 4 door, license number 51HRL1 give HPD a call! I'm sure its gone by now, but I thought I would vent a little and maybe someone will see it. It also had the words "Captain Cody's Adventures" on the back with my phone number.

there have been ALOT of auto thefts down that way over the past year.
my wife was eating down there with a couple of her builders six months ago or so and they stole 3 cars/trucks from the parking lot basicly at once.
theifs are so brave these days it is amazing.

i am not passing judgement or anything but the crime rate has skyrocketed since "katrina"
Big Red, sorry to hear about that!!! I almost had my camaro broken into until they heard the clicking sound of a 12 gauge shotgun...I believe in harsher penalties for criminals and thieves (like cutting off a hand or something)...

Rodney
call the border counties that are near by. laredo or delrio area, Brownsville, Mcallen, Riogrande city. Let them know the details, that is where most of them end up crossing.
Yep, I saw yesterday that the murder rate in Houston is up 23% from last year. Hope you get your truck back (or don't - whichever is better for you), Big Red.

So, if you have to buy a new truck, are you going to get a different color, and if so, is your TTMB handle going to change? ;)
There is apparently a big professional auto theft ring that is very active in Southwest and Southeast Houston. From what I hear the ring leaders are based in Mexico.

Sorry about your truck. Even though insurance covers it, you still have to go through all the hassle and you're out the deductible.
Bro I'm from La.. Those people don't have enough horse sense to steal a truck.... It was probably some ILLEGAL IMMIGRANT providing some more positive input to our society

Thanks for the kind words guys

Shad - I still have a red boat so I guess I can keep my handle or maybe I need to buy another big red truck :)

Big Red, I feel your pain. I went through the same situation with my 1 ton Dodge several months ago. I was very lucky with it being recovered by DPS down in Rio Grande City, half a block from the border. I have been told that once HPD puts it into there system, it goes into a national database for stolen vehicles, but I went ahead and contacted Border Patrol, Port of Entry and the Harris County Sheriff's Department. I have been told 80% of the heavy duty trucks being stolen today are being taken down to the border.

My cousins 2003 F-250 super duty diesel got stolen at Baybrook Mall last week!!!!!!!!!!!!
for some reason or another the southeast, clear lake areas have been hard hit by these thieves. these Fords are realatively easy to steal and are very abundant. one reason is they have no chip key. they can be accessed readily with an old school slim-jim, rip out the ignition switch and off they go........
Truck Found!

I had a lady call me today and ask if I was o.k. and I said what are you talking about. She replied "your truck has been sitting in my front of my house for 2.5 days!" I told her my truck had been stolen and she said "well its right here!" So I called the police and went over there to confirm and sure enough it was there! They took all my stereo equipment, a tackle bag with lures, sunglasses, camera and some other stuff, but boy am I glad to have my truck back! The police didn't even bother with fingerprints, but I'm sure they deal with a lot of these everyday. Thanks for all the support.
Hey Red,

That happens all the time.. get this one.... A friend at work had his truck stolen from the parking lot 3 weeks ago..... I recovered his truck for him LOL..> It was two parking lots down in front of my building.... The stole it, took it for a ride i guess and brought it back to a parking lot a few blocks down.. They didnt even take anything..

Think about what our security thought lol

Glad you got your truck back

Big Red,

Glad you got your truck back. I sure get tired of folks doing that kind of stuff.
I did that to my friends truck before. :) Except I parked around the block from his house after he came home drunk one night. He is my neighbor across the street still.

Glad to hear you got your truck back. One thing that kind of gets under my skin is the fingerprinting deal though. Most likely the person that stole the vehicle has been booked before and has some sort of record. Remember last year when Roger Clemens' Hummer got stolen from his son's school. Well after that happened they fingerprinted his truck, but they won't do that for a regular Joe to catch these scumbags. I'm sure this does happen alot, but really how much does it really take to do a little fingerprinting? IMO his truck getting stolen is no different than anyone elses. They should treat all cases the same no matter what your name or social status is, but hey can't be crooked without the govt involved.
Thats what I was thinking

My truck had just been washed and cleaned inside and out and I could see fingerprints on the wood grain plain as day. They where all over the passenger side door and I hadn't had anyone on that side since I washed it on Sunday. They used a generic key to get inside my truck (after scratching up the door and door handle) then they used that same key to get the truck started, but in the process managed to break the ignition. But I feel really lucky to have her back!

These thefts concern me alot because I'm looking at buying a new F250. Is there some aftermarket add-on like a hidden GPS? Or something called a low-jack? Not trying to hijack the thread, but any ideas would be welcomed.
Yes, Dragnet, Lojack is around but I hear it isn't cheap.

Don't forget about the alarms they have now that have remote
receivers that alert you when the alarm goes off on your vehicle. That
way you know if someone is breaking into it even if you are too far
away to hear the alarm going off.
