Interest to the Caribbean, Central America and possibly even the United States is a system about 650 miles east of the southern Windward Islands. Wind shear around the system is relatively low and sea surface temperatures are high. Its main problem appears to be dry air to the west and north:

It has a moderate-to-slim chance of becoming a tropical depression, and of all the systems we've seen so far this year it has probably the best chance of becoming a hurricane.
The odds remain against this, but if "Dean" makes it into the Caribbean it could pose trouble because, as we have seen, waters there are warm and contain a lot of heat potential for strengthening a system. The models remain nearly useless at this point, but here are the early runs all the same. If it develops it could go anywhere.

No one certainly need panic yet, but it finally appears the tropics are at least worth watching this year.
