We normally see our first birds in the first week of Feb. Guess it's time to get everything ready.

I missed the martin season last year due to a divorce but I was awarded the house and get to enjoy them this year, can't wait!

six weeks? its gonna be cold still! guess I had better clean out the old nests

I might suggest if the old nests are dry leave them be,,,the preference by the birds is for used nests,this indicates to them that this site was a safe site the previous season free of predators.

Yes it may very well be still chilly but they return this time every year to established colonies.

Thanks Dick. Maybe this year I'll join the land lord ranks instead of just watching & enjoying the neighbor's 3 condos I can see from my backyard.

I say it every year..."Next year....."

Say Wissl, have you tried putting dried pine needles and oak leaves in the nest boxes before they arrive. Like previously said, they like some nesting material in place already....I guess kinda like a "furnished" apartment.

1st pic is of one of our houses. The 2nd shows how we "furnish" the house.
