Anybody hear how the young man is this morning. Heard it last evening that a 10 year old boy was bitten several times while either swimming or fishing at a beach in Freeport. Any further news? Details were "sketchy" at the time I heard the broadcast. CF?

He was wadefishing with his dad at Bryan beach last evening. It looks like a bonafide shark attack, not a nip. Apparently he was bitten twice on the right leg (lower and upper) and right arm.
Be interesting to hear the story from the father. Did they have fish on the stringer? how deep were they wading?

Boy bitten by shark

The story in the Houston Chronicle said he was wade fishing and was
"carrying a bag of fish". It didn't say how far they were out, it did
say the parents took him to a nearby fire station at 8 p.m., so it was
in the evening. I hope the little guy makes a speedy recovery.

I was down there wading on Saturday catching trout on spoons in the 2nd gut, and I saw a couple sharks that ere around 4-5 footers that were chasing mullet pods. We had one good run on the long rods that was set-up for a bull-red with a 80 pound test leader that got bit off. I didn't hear off anyone getting bitten, but the sharks were there!

Channel 11 in Houston had a long interview with the doctor and a relative of the boy early this morning. They said in the interview the relative (I think his uncle), the boys dad and the boy were fishing on the second bar in just above knee deep water (waist deep on the boy) when the attack occurred as a school of trout moved by. The uncle also said that the only bag of fish was attached to the dad, not the boy as the paper has reported and that they had no bait - only using arti's.

can't remember

what channel it was on, but last night they were telling people to start thrashing around and making a lot of noise if a shark is around. i think it was channel 11.

now thats good advice. not. flouncing around to trigger the feeding response or just a curiosity nibble is not what ya want to do. where do these people get their info???

The website I listed has a long list of things not to do, and thrashing around making alot of noise is DEFINITELY not on it, for obvious reasons!! GEEZ, what morons they are to tell people that!
