1/2" white nylon twist is fine, braid is better over the long haul 50' of line and 5' of 5/16 galv chain to your anchor , this is prob overkill for your boat, but better than to watch it drift off during a wade.........

I bought 2 ea 25' x 1/2" docking lines and I connected the chain to one of them, then I use just the one unless I am anchoring in deeper water
Probably a stupid question, but what purpose does the chain serve? I know you need it, but it's one of those things I did because I've seen all others like that.

Helps keep the rope of of oyster reefs, etc. that might cut it, or the rope getting cut by the anchor itself. I have a small jon boat and have instead a braided, heavy duty piece of 7/8" rope (I already had the rope and was too cheap to buy a chain)
