We save 2 liter and similar sized bottles and fill them 90% full with water and freeze for ice blocks and just wash and refreeze between uses. We average about 1 cracking and getting thrown out each trip but keep a healthy stockpile in our bait freezer. We throw a few in our drink cooler and make a bed of them in our fish box and it's been working well for us for years. Also great for a food cooler as you don't end up with thawed ice water getting into your groceries and making things soggy.

I get buckets occasionally from shipleys donuts .... they are food grade and had icing in them previously and even after cleaning them good the ice slides right out

I cut one down and it fits in the shelves on the upright freezer .... it’s a 12” x 3

This ^^^.

I save my kids half gallon juice bottles and use them. The trick is to leave a little room when filling them with water and they won't break from the ice expanding. I've got a freezer full of them and use them for fish, duck and pretty much everything else. They keep my ducks cold and they don't get wet and nasty from ice melting.
