Texas City 9/28

Fished around the dike on Saturday, Sept 28th. Caught two slot reds, one trout, and several golden croaker with three undersise reds. Live shrimp under cork. As others have said, the water was still really high from the autumn equinox. We searched for flounder but didn't see any.

I got caught going 39mph on the dike going out, if anyone knows how to fight that, please PM me

39 in a 25, might be able to do deferred adjudication and defensive driving.

5 miles at 25mph, when you are going fishing??, right, maybe 125mph! in all reality, with the rug rats darting around, in between cars, tents and rocks, it's best to be safe than sorry. i only do the speed limit on the dyke, in high alert mode, when in the kid/beach zone, or passing parked cars. otherwise I'm rocking down the dyke, with the cordless Escort on. worth it's weight in gold, if you have a heavy foot.

Congrats on the catch. I drive fast too when I'm on good highways. I'm sure 25 seems slow , especially if it's really early in the morning. I never tried to "fight" a ticket, just took defensive driving and paid the court cost.

Lesson learned. It seems like just about everyone is hauling to the end prior to daylight so they can start fishing. Come to think of it, I don't recall ever seeing a cop in the early morning hours. Only seem 'em when I'm driving back home around mid-day, which is when he caught me. I'll invest in the detector - cuz as you said, driving 5 miles at 25mph is a bit nuts.

It’s not nuts when you’re talking about families being out and kids running around. So your fishing is more important than someone’s life. Just like in a neighborhood, low speed limits are set for safety reasons. Maybe you need to leave earlier in the morning and respect the laws.

Try driving 60 miles down pins at 15mph in the spring time. Reason for the 15mph limit is for the turtles. I’ve been pulled over for doing 30mph at the 40mm without a camp in sight for miles.

It's a street not a playground.
