Hey guys. Was wondering if anybody has been fishing the San Jac river for reds or trout. Thinking about going Friday but not sure if the salinity has gotten high enough for them to be up river. Rain has been medium lately but I also think they've kept the dam shut due to maintenance. (Highlands Highway 90 area)
Yes I know not to eat any fish out of there just going for fun. Thanks in advance.
Fyi, the reds are up there all the time, trout need the higher salinity levels. They stock alot of freshwater lakes with redfish. So go catch em, should be good. Be safe
I use to catch them years ago in the summer time the little Island where the barges are at in the far right hand corner of the photo. We used live shrimp, there was a hump right there and would usually limit out but this was back in the mid 80's.
Cross the river every day going home and frequently see boats in the summertime out around the islands fishing.
Removing Dioxin now from the little rock island by the bridge so I certainly would practice CPR.
