He would be legal in a restricted county. Law states it must have 1 unbranched antler and that does appear to be the case. Definately needs to go. Don't want those genes going around.
Its sad when a person says that he would shoot this deer on HIS land to improve HIS deer herd so that HE can have better deer for HIMSELF he gets accused of playing GOD.
Bring it fellas! I'm pretty thick skinned! But just so you know where I stand on this buck.......if I was sittin in a blind deer hunting and this guy walked out I'd put a bullet through his heart. Not because he was 4.5 years old, or 3.5 years old, or because he would score 180 or if he was only a spike. It would be because I was deer hunting and looky here what just wandered into my kill zone!
Oh, and if I offended ya'll in my other thread, it wasn't intentional. Everyone's got opinions and views and we are lucky to have somewhere like 2cool to openly voice them!
Can't see well enough to tell whether that antler is unbranched... kind of looks like he may have broke a point off from the picture. Also looks like he has a coat of varnish on those horns... they are some kind of shiny!
It looks like he is slick on one side but there is more to it than that in a management program. Does he appear to be 18 months (first year) or is he 2 1/2? If he is a first year buck than you would definitely want to let him go; if he is 2 1/2 +, harvest him because he seems to be carrying some bad genes.

Yes! If he has one slick side or even if he definitely has something there, but is less than an inch long, he is legal in a restricted county. Be careful though, if there is something there, i wouldn't take the chance because it all depends on who and how the warden measures that point off the beam. There is no tolerance in this program and that's a good thing because hunter really need to take more time to study the deer than just having a "kill" attitude.
