The boys and I got an invite to a place in Burnett county this weekend and we all had some good luck.
My youngest son got his FIRST deer. He got a nice 7 pnt that scored 237 if you ask him.
We were in a ground blind looking at a feeder, for the second hunt, when I said lets get out and make something happen. Nothing was showing at the feeder as everything was chasing does.
We got out and walked about a 1/4 mile away and I built a brush blind, overlooking a nice draw about 300 yds long.
After about 15 minutes I slammed the rattling horns together for a minute then set back.
Almost immedialty a 5 point shows at 100 yds and is closing fast.
I knew this would be tough on a new hunter in a hurry up and shoot position.
The 5 got to 15 yrds and spotted us trying to get on him and hauled arse.
We got plenty of time I told my son , as he was disappointed that it got by.
Not 3 minutes later the seven pnt shows at 150 yds and is closing fast as well.
My boy spots him and tries to get the rifle in position with me helping on another high pressure shot.
Well at 50 yrds I bleat loudly and the deer stops on high alert.
I whisper shoot or he's gone.
He makes a perfect shot right on the front of the shoulder with the deer quartered at us.
He hits the ground, jumps up and takes off. But I saw his leg, on our side, swinging and new he wasn't long for this world. It was a perfect shot , under pressure. What a boy and proud daddy.
Heres the pics. Got me another deer hunter.
