Hay has anybody dear hunted between freer and San Diego in the last few years, I have a day hunt down there in Dec 1, 2, 3. I have not been down west in about 10, years. It was shot up back thin.
Ditto on what scubaru said...I hunted San Diego opening weekend of Dove season, shot plenty of whitewing but no sign of deer. Asked the land owner about the deer population, he said it was very slim. Only sees a few doe each year on his 500 acres....If your not on a managed, good size ranch around Freer, going to be the same story.....
We hunted there last year and saw abundant deer. Judging from the show at the processor place there are a lot of nice deer still around but also a lot of high-fenced managed places compared to prior years. Day-hunt properties are probably pretty slim pickings.
I have 95 acres and it is north of San Diego off of CR103 and a mile in off that CR and I see plenty of does and bucks since the season has started. But again that on my ranch can't speak for the rest of the ranches.
I'm loaded with deer. The most deer I've seen in the last 3 years. Lots of good, young bucks despite the drought. We have 7000+ acres off of 624.
