Question Which Marine Battery?

It appears that the new main stream dry cell batteries have been the deal, especially with bay boats. I have researched several during the boat show, as I am in the market to upgrade from the conventional lead acid battery. I have friends that use the "Optima" Deep Cycle Battery and seem very satisfied, although at the show there is a new product made by Aerobatteries called the "Odyssey", which has the latest technology with a shelf life of over two years. Has anyone heard of this battery, and if not, what is the best dry cell marine battery out there?

I've always used Continental www.continentalbattery.com and never had a problem. They make the Optima Batteries, so that's the battery I would buy.

Odyssey batts are not that new. I read about them this time last year on the net when my batts went belly up. I bought the BassPro branded AGM batts. Got them on sale at their Spring event for $80 each (group 27's.) I was told/read that Deka makes these for them and Cabela's. Deka is a major name brand that is well respected.

I guess what I'm saying is that if you can wait for the BPS Spring sale, you'll save some money. If not their batts are normally ~$120 for group 27's. Still cheaper than the Optima's and just a good of quality from what I can tell.

The 3 I bought have been great.

Take care,
Tim
