American made

I've made up my mind to try and buy only American made!! Reels seem to be a stumbling block for me. My question is who in America makes a upper end ($100-300 )bait cast reel with low weight ( 6-8 oz. )as good Garcia or Shimano?

If Lew's are in fact made here, they may be just what I'm looking for! I found no evidence of them being made here on their web site.

Those reels are not made in the US.

If it makes you feel better Shimano employs well over 300 people between all the brands we own and operate. This is all inside the US. Shimano American Corp (California), G.Loomis (Washington), Power Pro and Pearl Izumi (Colorado).

The Lews of today arent the Lews of old. Lews = Revo. Internals are identical. Just dressed up on the outside. Dont know if they hold up any better in salt vs the Revo.

If you're talking about low-profile baitcast reels that's light and made in USA ... there is NONE (correct me if I'm wrong).
Most of the reels that are actually made in USA are big and heavy.
I have a nice collection of those.

Shimano used to make the older Lews BB-1 when we first started making reels. We eventually sold them the tooling (so I was told) so they could continue to offer the reels because we moved in our own direction. Technically those reels of old could have been made in Japan or the US depending on the year it was made.
