Duh, What Was I Thinking - Of Course They Come Off!!!

All these years cleaning my Curado CU200's, I've just added a drop of oil to the base of the handle paddles, never realizing that you can take them off. The Shimano schematic doesn't show them as separate parts. None of the maintenance blogs that I've read have ever discussed or shown paddle removal. I've always assumed that they're riveted in place and not removable.

Well my oldest greenie's handle really started dragging yesterday, so I poked around a little more. Out comes a rubber plug in the end of the paddle, under which is a philips screw. Duh! Of course they come apart. Yuck, what a mess underneath. Probably 15 years of saltwater and sand left a nice green mess on the brass stud. Wire brush, fine steel wool, and some Penn Blue and they sure are smooth now...

Photo: before on the left, after on the right (pretty obvious I guess...)

Most the phillips screw ones are "regular threads"....but sometimes they can be reverse threads...just be careful. Nice work.
