Packery Channel

Headed to Packery Channel area (with out a boat) for a few days. Has anybody fished that area lately? Anything happening down that way?

Thanks DP.

Depends some on water clarity. Tarpon are rolling towards the end. Catch jacks, smacks and many other species. Pretty nice jetties! Good luck.

We will look for tarpon there as well as the Port A jetties. I have not caught one yet, but my nephew is going and he hold the state tarpon record so I may have a chance at one if they are there.

Not really any luck on my end. I did see some keeper reds and trout off the jetty. Tarpon were in the water there do my nephew taught me how to fish for the silver kings there. Bro in law hooked one (way cool) and hooked a 20 -26 lb jack It was really great being there just to see those tarpon in the water. Winds we strong for the time we were there. We all fished on the dock at the condo with the kids and had a great long fathers day weekend.

Yep, that was him. A local Deer Park guy. Caught it off of 91st peir in Galveston. Those fish are awesome to see in the water and even better when they jump out on their own or on the hook.
