What rod for my daughters Zebco 808 salts

Got my girls some Zebco 808 saltwater reels. What would be a good lower-end priced rod to get them going in the bay or the jetties with live and dead bait? Both girls have been raised up fishing and fighting big catfish in the back yard pond, but I'm getting a boat and want to put them on some jetty action like I had growing up. Any info greatly appreciated.

Jim

Lowest but reliable, Berkley Cherrywood. 6'6" medium action casting. Only $19.99 at Academy, sometimes on sale for less. Girlfriends son has caught reds and seen action at the Texas City Dike.

Agree, Ugly stick makes some small rods. I have one my 11 year old last summer fought 40+ lb ling on...good luck. I feel comfortable fishing with it so it will last a long time.

Rod

The thing I see with the 808 is big and getting the thumb up to the release button can be a problem on esp straight reel seats.Take the reel to store and try it on and make sure that user can operate it when mounted (little hands can be a problem) . Don't see them much any more but there used to be reel seats was way lower than now.You might have to find a couple rods at garage sale with them.Other than that Ugly stick as mentioned above is a good choice...cva34

The All Star Classics are on sale at Academy the rest of the week for Father's Day for $29.99. That's a pretty sweet deal if you ask me.
