Thanks Tortuga!

I talked to Jim about making some bench dogs for my new work bench. Dang if he didn't whip out a few before I could even get over to his house. I think they will work just fine.

And to top it off, he demonstrated the fine art of pen making and made one for Full Stringer while she watched. Man, you pen makers are something else.

We got a sneak peak at some of his work, and pictures just don't do those pens justice. You just have to see them in person.

Enjoyed the visit, Jim.
Thanks again.
Mike

Too rich for my blood. Jim made me a half dozen out of Cedar. I don't need the notch or I can cut it on the band saw.

Fits in the 3/4 inch holes in the workbench to hold your lumber on the back side or whatever while you work on it. Good for hand planning. Thing is they are not exactly 3/4 inch dia because you have to have a little play so they will fit. The lathe took care of that which I couldn't.

if the cedar doesn't hold up, try something like lignum vitae

LOL.. You ever 'chopped cedar', Shawn ??.. I spent one summer doing just that back in my youth.. Hardest danged thing I ever done. I think the cedar will hold fine for Mike...

Mike..nice visiting with you and the Missuz... Post up a pix of your workbench when you get it finished.. Sounds like it will be great....
