How about you doing something about being part of the solution instead of running your mouth about the folks that do. I said last time I wasn't going to get sucked into these ******* match's anymore but then again I also remember the head honcho on here saying that the negative bashing was going to end as well when something like this was posted. Wait a minute now! Are you on the payroll also? Tell you what, how 'bout somebody get the monthly income statements for the past year or two and post them up. Now that would be an interesting read. Press releases about "tipping" the members bore me. Still pluggin'-Old Salty

Thanks for not answerring a single question. BTW I'm far from being on the payroll I'm just like any of the other 50,000+ Texas members that would rather do something to help out than not. BTW, How do you manage to find only groups that you agree with 100% of the time? Must be pretty boring.

I have disagreed with CCA on issues in the past and sure will do so in the future but have seen some very good signals coming from the CCA camp recently. I want to find common ground with those that will work for solutions not making things worse. CCA does so much good for our marine resources and they are very open for dialogue unlike some organizations that are do nothings. Kudos to CCA! Keep up the good work and please keep the channels of communication open we all have a lot of challenges in front of us! Calm Seas.. Capt. Scott Hickman, a Proud Texas Charter for Hire operator.

Bet it makes more sense now.
Regardless, thanks Liz for posting. Unlike Scott, I'll never forgive CCA for what they did to red snapper fishermen until they fire the people involved in the obvious dishonesty of using the known inflated bycatch number in the lawsuit that landed us in this situation, and make a public apology.
On the other hand, I won't ignore their achievements, or the good things they do, either. They're a big, powerful organization with the capacity to do a lot of good. PERHAPS they've learned that offshore fishermen count too. We'll see.
If you CCA folks want to see the hate die down, demand the resignation (or termination) of the individuals responsible for the lawsuit, and have the organization publicly apologize, in print, and acknowledge that they knew what they were doing was wrong when they did it.
It's an absolute fact that if they did that to the trout fishermen of the region you guys would be the ones carrying the pitchforks and torches. In fact, CCA would have fired some people and apologized some time ago.

Steve we are having a combined birthday for Shannon and Strick on Sat night call me and come beat him up on CCA, he is Council for CCA Gulf fisheries now and is open for any good ideas as you know Pat Murray is also. Remember Russ Nelsons testimony in Mobile about measuring fish by the fish and not by the pound a great idea. CCA is coming around. Calm Seas..Scott

If you step back from the situtation, it's a red snapper that is causing all this HATE.
We deffeinitly have some passonite fisherman here on 2cool, and most are real good people.
BUT
When we write some of the post we do, like ripping organization like CCA on a thread like this, it really turns poeple off to this web-site. You would not believe the people I speak to, that are scared to post here. Some think this web-site has become a joke, and it's because of a few select posters that take things to far.
chicapesca posted some good info, on some good things that cca has done.
Why can't we leave it at that?

I call BS! Screw me once and I might forgive you, screw me twice and the fight is on.
Why did CCA sign on the letter along with Pew Charitable Trust stating all fishing should be "Catch and Release"???
Like I said before, after a day of fishing, I want to be able to at least eat dinner.
Hell at the last Public input meeting, Tad Thrasher couldn't even look me in the face, ***!!!
CCA has made their stance, to screw the recreational fisherman, and I don't trust a word out of their lying mouths. Be naive if you want to, but not me, I'm too old to fall for this BS.
BTW, where was CCA in DC this past week? Probably hiding behind Lubchencko.
