| Conservation Crossfire/Fisheries Issues A place for everyone interested in fisheries discussion from a regulatory/political standpoint. The laws surrounding fishing and our fisheries are changing, and this is the place to learn about changes on the horizon. Please keep it civil. We can disagree with one another, without becoming disagreeable. |

Question, In Texas, is a fishing license only required if you keep fish, a possession lic? IN FL the lic is a fishing lic. You must have if you put a hook in the water regardless if you plan to keep or not.

YEP its pathetic , only those that own boats should catch snapper
oh by the way i saw two boat limits of snapper caught in federal waters being cleaned at surfside marina on saturday , by private recs , do you find that pathetic ? or are you foolish enough to claim you can catch tem in state waters out of freeport right now ?
shame shame shame , on the capt john for wanting to take recreational fishermen fishing , and shame on those fishermen for thinking they have a right to the fishery that the private recs are currently poaching , that just sickens me !

In other words; "To hell with the fish - anything to make a buck!"
Nothing is mentioned about snapper not being a catch and release species - there WILL be a high mortality rate for this concept.
Nothing is mentioned that this headboat alone will do more damage than 100 allegedly illegal private recs - and how many times/week will this boat fish?
Nothing is mentioned about a charter captain that keeps claiming to see illegal private recs catching/cleaning snapper from federal waters yet continues to fail to report these violators to the authorities.
Nothing is mentioned that the majority of private recs support the CFH sector.
Nothing is mentioned about Johnny Williams wanting to place MPAs up and down our coast extending from our beaches out to 200 miles.
The only thing that is said is to attack people personally and avoid the real issues at hand being discussed.
Incredible.
