Thank You Shimano!

I have two of 50 MGs and sent one in last week to have the reel frame replaced with the newer version, since by thumbar wouldn't engage. I have owned Shimano reels that last 22 years and refuse to fish with anything else because the service after the sale has always been fair with their product. I was surprised when I got a call to my cell phone from "Matt" at Shimano yesterday. He let me know that the new frame upgrades are back ordered for 1-2 months and I could wait for them to arrive or they could fix the reel thumbar and send it back to me if I really needed it badly. I opted to wait for the upgraded frame since I have another MG50 and a curado as back-ups. I was just impressed that a real live person took the time to call me and give me some options as to the repair of the reel. Thanks Bantam and all you guys at Shimano for putting the customer first, you just don't find that anymore.

I would wait until the parts are back in stock unless you can be without your reel that long.
