hey Duck guys...

If you had a pretty special bird to be mounted, and could pick just one place to mount him for you, regardless of price, who would it be?? I have several birds from a few different guys, but this one needs to be a good one. I dont wanna get into the whole "your mount sucks" deal that has happened here in the past, but i really gotta get this one right. thanks

Game Tracks Wildlife Studio in Austin is known for their bird work. I've never had them do a bird for me but I have a friend who spends more than my yearly salary hunting every year and that's the only guy he will let touch a bird for him. Also, myself and two friends each had a deer done by them this year and they all turned out awesome. If I get a chance, I will post some pictures of their quality. Information below:

Todd from BirdmanStudios. http://www.birdmanstudios.com/

You will have to pay a pretty penny for it and ship the bird, but his work is immaculate. Go to the Refuge or TxWaterfowler and ask around about him. They'll tell you he's the best.

I can recommend several others that are very good, but for that one special bird that's the guy.

Taxidermy

Hibler's Taxidermy, Kingsville

They are mostly known for their white-tails but David does excellent bird work as well. I hunt people from all over the country and I have yet to find anyone who is not impressed with their bird work.

PS They do great skin mounted and replica fish as well

Connie Mack Moran at Creative Feathers in LaMarque. Absolutely no question THE BEST. Not cheap and not fast. There's Connie Mack and then there's everybody else.

thought i might share the bird in question....

banded 8 years ago as an adult, so at least 9+ years old. He was an unbelievable bird, and i dont think i will ever see another double banded greenhead in my life. He came in with a hen on the last sat of the season, and a buddy and i both shot. He claims its his, i claim its mine etc...but that is no big deal. we are tight, no bad blood there or anything. we will work out how we share it etc...

thanks for the help guys.

Anyone have any suggestions on sharing the bird? we had talked about exchanging it back and forth on the opening day each year, so i would have it for a year, then he would have it....thoughts?

I don't remember for sure if it was him, but I'm pretty sure he did a banded mottled duck for me years ago and it came out great.

Randy Turner at Bass Taxidermy in Tx City is my go-to man. Excellent work, and lots of attention to detail. Here's my eagle head goose that he did. It looks like it's still alive to this day!
