Was just there looking at reels and I overheard the guys talking behind the counter about a Bushmaster. I asked one of them if they had one in stock that wasn't on display and he said yes. He didn't know exactly what model other than it had a collapsible stock. I'm not in the market for another AR-15, just thought I'd pass this along.
I'd been looking for one so I went up there earlier and it wasn't exactly what I wanted. It was a Bushmaster AR-15 not sure of model number but M4 style and the guys behind the counter didn't know either. Actually I wasn't interested because it had a carry handle built along with the upper as one piece which isn't what I want. Not to mention before this week Academy was selling this gun for $899 and when I asked the price they said it had gone up to $1099. I said not me, not for that gun. I guess Academy decided they wanted their cut as well?

I wonder why they are hidin it????? Why didn't they have it in the rack?
I'm glad I got all mine in hand before all this happened too!
But....I'm thinking I would really like one more AR-15 in 7.62X39...that sure is sweet set-up...I'm surprised it's not more popular...they have the mag issues solved????????????
I wish the bug would have hit me a couple of years ago. My buddy bought a nice Colt with a Leupold scope a few years back and only paid $1200 for the whole setup.
Now Bushmaster and RRA's are going for $1100-1300 at gun shows and online. I won't even ask to look at the prices at the gun shops. They want $1400-1600.
The shops are raising prices for themselves, wholesale has not gone up as much as dealers are telling you. I just picked up a S&W MP15 three days after christmas for 950, but the gun show a week later same rifle was 1100???? The same day I got my smith I looked at a bushy like the one mentioned above for 850.
Fella I work with just got 7 bushmasters at 900 a piece out of austin and that price was the same from one to 20.
I'm thinking about getting a collection of Mini-14s, 1 each in .223, 7.62x39, and 6.8 SPC. I have always like the M1A/Mini-14 action better anyhow. Maybe one day I'll be able to afford an actual M1A. Loved them ever since I first qualified with it in the military... expert rifle medal (Navy) first go round.
mini-14 is a far cry from M1A. So drop the extra coin and get the rifle you want. ARs are all over gunbroker for $1100. Whats 100 bucks if you are dropping a G already?

That 308 isnt going to penetrate any body armor at all ! lol...only reason i know is because me and my buddy were experimenting on a panel of vest a couple weeks ago. The single sheet stopped a .22 handgun, .40 handgun, .45 handgun, .22 rifle, .223 AR-15, 357mag rifle, 30-30rifle, 243 rifle and a 30-06 rifle. The one bullet that went clean through was the 257 weatherby mag with the barnes triple shock. It was pretty fun to say the least lol
Just for fun I asked the Academy here in San Antonio. The guy told me that they get them in but they don't put them on display. You have to ask for it if you want one.
One reason around our area of Lake Jackson is because the Pawn Shops were buying everything off the racks and sticking a price between $1700-$1900 on them. If you got money to throw away there are around 6 AR's at the Pawn shop in Freeport next Baywood Groc. store.
