Howdy fellow 2cooler's this is my first post so bear with me. I have just started goose hunting this season. I only have a few shells and about 200 canada rags. Anyway's I live in the Dumas and we are covered up with geese in the area, I got permission from a few guy's to hunt on their land and so far haven't been skunked in my first tree attempts, but I can definately tell that I need quite a few more dekes and some better ones to really pull them in. I have been able to get the geese to come in but they flare off at about 50 yards. I got this goose this morining and was just wondering if it is one that should be mounted or not. Hopefully I will have many more reports to come in the future.
It is a fine goose. You might hold off on a mount. A few more hundred decoys and a few more years and you'll shoot a bird you will have no doubt about.
Not a bad looking blue. He isn't a juvie. Down here you could kill a better one I don't know how many opportunities you get up there to kill blues. If you like him, have him mounted. He ain't a bad looking bird, just not the best blue you'll find. GK is right, lots of folks wouldn;t think twice about putting a blue like that on the wall.
