While still dark, clear skies and under a 3/4-moon, we watched approximately 100-redhead ducks land in our duck decoys. The noise sounded like a bunch of hungry kittens. I'm sure most of you have experienced this noise, but for those who have not, it's a pretty cool.
As of late, our hunts have pretty much been limits of redheads and pintails with a mix of widgeon. We recently had a hunt that produced 4-man limits of mostly gadwalls.
I've noticed that the hens purr more than the drakes. I've had drakes land in the decoys and they are usually pretty quiet, but when a hen lands it sounds like the hungry kitten.
She sure is Sunset Sadie. LOL I heard that her Mother would dive 8 feet in a swimming pool for golf balls. Sadie dives under for redheads, heck the other day, we couldn't see her, she popped up with a duck. Crazy stuff. Who worked with these dogs to make them dive?
I trained Gypsy myself, but diving underwater came natural to her. She was hit by a car two summers ago and killed. I sure do miss her. Sadie is one of three pups that Gypsy had. Have you bred Sadie or plan to? If so, I would like one of those pups. I lost my other lab to old age this past year and am now dogless. I sure would like another dog from that bloodline. Sadie's grandfather comes from a world class bloodline.
As for breeding Sunset Sadie not in the near future, but I will keep you on my list when we do breed her.
Thanks
Chris
